My son Adrian, otherwise known as Baby Deedee, was born in September of 2008. It was love at first sight! An active, healthy little boy… but boy was it a challenge to get him to sleep.
My son Adrian(nicknamed baby deedee) was born in 2008. Getting him to sleep was a real challenge.
My instinct told me that if he felt cozy and secure in an environment that resembled the womb, he would sleep better. I envisioned a sleep sack in a cocoon-like shape, with a soft cotton exterior and filled with light, plush duvet quilting. I searched and searched, and couldn’t find any comfy, well-designed versions that matched my vision. So I designed my own. Nine months later, baby deedee sleep nests were born!
The original Baby Deedee, and his new baby brother, sleep soundly in their sleep nests, and so do I, knowing that they are warm, cozy and safe in their cribs. I worry less about SIDS because there are no loose blankets in the crib to be kicked about during the night.
The modern design of the baby deedee sleep nests is not just pleasing to the eye, but also quite functional. I put sleek metal snaps on the small and medium versions to make it easy to place a sleeping baby into the sleep nest. Now there’s no need to rouse a baby that falls asleep on you, which happens often during the infant months. I also added a unique glow-in-the dark zipper on the white version, a great feature when looking in on the nursery to make sure baby is sleeping on her back.

Dominique lives with her husband David, 2 year old son, Adrian, 6 month old son, Mateo, and cat Pacha, in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
In her very limited free time, Dominique enjoys cooking, especially foods her 2 littlest boys surely will not eat, International travel, and yes, sleep.
